THE FOOD


 

Weinhard Cafe has a long history of using the freshest available and local ingredients while avoiding processed food products. Frontrunners in the slow food movement, the previous owners took pride in being one of the only restaurants in the region to offer such fresh, local and interesting foods. Chef Mandi Wendt continues with this tradition, while at the same time increasing the variety of  available menu options to ensure we can accommodate as many dietary restrictions possible, including vegan, gluten free and dairy free options.  

 

Essentially everything from the cafe’s kitchen is housemade, including pastas, sauces, dressings, pickled vegetables, desserts, ice creams and breads.  

  

It is neither easy or inexpensive to maintain such high standards. A considerable amount of labor goes into each food product, but all of us at the cafe feel it is important to maintain and to perpetuate an appreciation for quality, local and healthy foods. The cafe supports local vendors, suppliers, organizations and initiatives which also serve this goal.
